Dementia 'Pop up' Hubs are coming to Sutton this summer
The hubs will seek to help local residents who are living with dementia or would like to find out more about the condition.
The hubs will provide an open and accessible space for local people to come and meet other people. Representatives from several organisations will be available at each pop up to provide information and advice. There will also be presentations at midday at each site on dementia related themes such as power of attorney.
The idea for the project came from a recommendation from the Healthwatch Sutton report ‘Exploring the experience of people with dementia and those who care for them' in 2017 which found there was not enough support for those living with dementia and a dementia hub in Sutton would address a lot of the issues identified.
Jenny Thrower, Service Manager of Alzheimers Society Sutton said:
“Alzheimer’s Society Sutton is pleased to be part of the Pop Up events to reach more people affected by dementia; by uniting with the organisations across Sutton we are ensuring that no-one has to face dementia alone. We want everyone affected by dementia to know that they can turn to Alzheimer’s Society and all the other organisations at the Pop Up events for support, help and advice.”
