Help us improve local health and care services: become a trustee

We're looking for people to become trustees of Healthwatch Sutton and help provide strategic direction for our work.
Patient and doctor talking

Healthwatch Sutton is a small charity which listens to local people's experiences of health and care services, and seeks to make sure that those experiences make services better. In the last two years we've reported on local issues with dentistry services, Long Covid, the cost of living and the mental wellbeing of primary school children. We're planning projects around access to GP services, maternity services, and the care that people receive at home.

We're looking for trustees who can help direct the long-term strategy of Healthwatch Sutton.

  • Trustees need to be aged 18 or over and live or work in Sutton.
  • This is a volunteer role - you can claim expenses, but you won't be paid.
  • You'll work with other trustees and paid staff to manage the organisation, including developing an annual strategy.
  • You'll need to engage with local people about what Healthwatch does.
  • You'll need to understand charity law and your responsibilities (training can be provided).
  • You need to have communication and decision-making skills, and be able to work as part of a team. You'll need to be able to use Office software, the internet and email, and to use online meeting platforms like Zoom (training can be provided)
  • You'll need to commit to attending a meeting each month, reading papers to prepare for it, and attending a small number of additional meetings. Trustees are appointed for an initial term of three years.
